We may earn a commission from links on this page — at no extra cost to you. How this works

Affiliate disclosure

The Baby Gear Index is reader-supported. We may earn a commission when you buy through links on this site — at no extra cost to you.

That sentence is the whole disclosure. The rest of this page explains what it means in practice, because you deserve to know exactly how a site that recommends baby gear pays its bills.

Some of the links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer or brand pays us a small percentage of the sale. You pay the same price you would have paid anyway — the commission comes out of the seller’s margin, not your pocket.

Amazon

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

The Baby Gear Index is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.

Other programs

We also participate in affiliate programs run directly by baby and nursery brands, and through affiliate networks that manage those programs on the brands’ behalf. Where a brand runs its own program, we’ll usually link to the brand first and offer Amazon as a second option — brands typically pay us more, and buying direct often gets you a better warranty or return window anyway.

What this changes about our recommendations

Nothing about which products we pick. Specifically:

  • No brand pays us to be recommended. Commission rates don’t decide our picks. If a product we think is wrong for you pays 12% and the right one pays 3%, we recommend the right one.
  • We don’t accept free product in exchange for coverage, and we don’t run sponsored posts dressed up as guides. If that ever changes, this page changes first and the post itself will say so at the top.
  • We don’t claim to have tested anything we haven’t. We compare published specifications, certifications, and patterns in owner feedback. We have never crash-tested a car seat or lab-tested a crib, and we never say we have. See how we research for exactly what we do and don’t do.

What this changes about prices

Nothing. Affiliate links never raise the price you pay. We also don’t publish prices in our articles, because they change constantly and a stale price is worse than no price — the “check price” buttons take you to the live listing instead.

Where you’ll see this

There’s a disclosure at the top of every page on this site, and a short reminder next to the first set of product links in every guide. We’d rather tell you three times than bury it once.
